Vibration is simply defined as “the cyclic or oscillating motion of a machine or machine component from its position of rest or its ‘neutral’ position.”
A vibration meter is used in manufacturing for machine condition monitoring, product testing and quality assurance. Many machine maintenance technicians use vibration meter devices in tandem with sound level meters to analyze frequency. A vibration meter also can be used in machines to measure the vibration. Any vibration meter will measure one or more of the following parameters: vibration acceleration, vibration velocity (speed) and / or vibration displacement.
The vibration meter is used as a hand-held measuring device for the individual assessment of vibrations on machines and systems. With the help of this vibration meter, the actual state can easily be determined on site. Thus, corresponding changes can be made directly on site after the measurement.
